Who we are
This website and the programs offered through it are provided by Metis Knowledge Lab, Inc., a North Carolina corporation, 11466 Club Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27517, USA ("Metis," "we," "us"). By using the site or enrolling in a program, you agree to these terms.
Enrollment and access
When you enroll in a program directly, we grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use the program's materials on our learning platform for your own learning. Access begins when payment is confirmed and continues for the access period stated at enrollment. An account is for one person; please keep your login private and tell us if you believe it has been used by someone else.
Fees and refunds
Fees are stated in US dollars and are payable in full before access begins. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
Intellectual property
The programs, including their text, cases, figures, labs, tools, assessments, and completion records, are owned by Metis Knowledge Lab, Inc. and protected by copyright. You may use them for your own learning. You may not copy, share, sell, publish, or teach from them, or use them to build another program, without our written permission. Institutions that wish to offer a program to their own learners do so under a separate license.
Your work
The notes, lab responses, and portfolio you create while taking a program are yours. You grant us permission to store them on the platform so that the program can work, and to use them, without identifying you, to improve the program.
Completion records
A Completion Record confirms that you completed a program and passed its assessments. It is issued by Metis Knowledge Lab, Inc. and is not an academic credit, a professional license, or a certification by any other body. Academic credit is available only where a college or university offers the program under its own license.
Acceptable use
Please use the platform honestly and lawfully: do not attempt to gain access you have not been granted, interfere with the platform, or misrepresent your work in an assessment. We may suspend access that breaks these terms.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the platform available and the programs current, and we may update materials from time to time. If we withdraw a program you are enrolled in before your access period ends, we will refund the unused part of your fee.
Liability
The programs are educational. They are provided with reasonable care, but without a guarantee of any particular result, and they are not professional, legal, medical, or financial advice. To the extent the law allows, our liability to you in connection with a program is limited to the fee you paid for it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be brought in the courts of that state.
